Thank you for taking part in Sport Relief!

The Scout Association once again joined up with Sport Relief in 2010. Scouts across the UK challenged themselves to do something sporty and raise money to help people living incredibly tough lives both in the UK and some of the world’s poorest countries. Overall Sport Relief raised in excess of £31 million smashing all previous Sport Relief records and UK Scouts helped to do this.

Badges, three legs and jolly hockey sticks!

Groups got involved in all types of sports to raise money. The Lingfield & Dormansland Cubs incorporated their efforts with the Fitness Challenge, and Cubs completed fitness diaries and even improved on their chosen sport while taking on the challenge.

In Kirkcaldy, the Cubs of the 14th Fife made up their own games, then paid £2 for the privilege of playing them. Some of the creative options were dodge ball with hockey sticks, knocking down cones with beanbags and catching a ball in a mitt that the Cubs had thrown over the beams in the meeting place ceiling. Leader Fiona West enthused, 'Sport Relief fitted in really nicely with some of the badges the Cubs are doing, and counted towards the Creative Challenge Badge. They would play games all night if we let them!'

A big part of Sport Relief is the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief mile and across the country Scouts of all ages took part. 7th West Wick decided the mile was too easy so did it three-legged! The same idea was decided by the 5th Elgin (New Elgin) Cub who did a ’silly mile’ for Sport Relief. The Cubs were asked to come up with a silly way of going a mile around the local park and one of those was three-legged!
