New leadership for Scouting in the North West

Chris Harris has been appointed to lead Scouting in the North West of England with his appointment as Regional Commissioner with effect from 1 March 2010.
Announcing the appointment, Mark Tarry, England Deputy Chief Commissioner said, ‘I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Chris into this key role. Chris brings a wealth of experience from other youth organisations together with a wide network with a variety of external bodies and agencies which will offer some exciting opportunities to the Region. His experience will help provide management and leadership skills that will facilitate the development of the North West Region’.
Chris's primary responsibility will be to directly manage the team of County Commissioners in the North West and support the strategic management and development of the Region.
A former teacher on the Fylde, Chris is Regional Director of the Engineering Development Trust, promoting careers in science, engineering and technology to young people. New to Scouting, Chris and his wife, Elinor, have lived in the North West for over 20 years and currently live near Chorley, Lancashire where he has been a magistrate for 10 years.
