Does this mean we are going to get some extraordinary men awards ?

What happened to being a joint sex movement and everyone being equel.

I bet there are a lot of women who will feel offended at being treated different to their male colleagues

Hi Matty P,

Thanks for the comment. Just to clarify:

The awards themselves aren't organised by The Scout Association. We've simply highlighted them as another positive opportunity to thank and recognise some of the great work people do within our Movement. It's up to you whether you decide to use that opportunity or not.

We often highlight a wide range awards with varying criteria available from other organisations that do this - Young People Of The Year, vinspired, Future Friendly Awards... Just to mention a few.

If you have any queries or issues with individual awards then you need to take them up with the organisations behind them.

All the best,

Matt

According to the organisation behind the awards:

"Get involved by nominating an outstanding woman for an Extraordinary Women Award 2010. She could be a colleague, a friend, a neighbour, a family member or a woman you just know about and admire."

So, from that I'd say if you think someone deserves recognition for their efforts then they can be nominated. They don't have to be involved in Scouting, the only nomination criteria is that they are a woman.

Visit their website linked to in the article above for further info.
