Road deaths are a huge killer of young people. Every day on British roads, six young people aged 12-19 are killed or seriously hurt on foot or bicycles, and 19 young people under 25 are killed or seriously hurt in cars.
2young2die aims to stop the carnage by putting young people in the driving seat in spreading awareness about road safety. The competition asks young people to run an awareness raising campaign about road safety in the area, and do some fundraising at the same time. Winners will receive a selection of goodies, as well as an all expenses paid trip to Brake's annual reception at the houses of parliament in 2011.
What you have to do
The competition requires young people to work in groups, and complete two activities:
Campaign! Hold a road safety event (such as a photo call for local media) or create a road safety advert
Collect! Run a fundraiser for Brake.
The competition is open to young people aged 11 – 25 and entries will be split in to three categories:
- 11 – 15 year olds
- 16 – 18 year olds
- 18 – 25 year olds.
A day to remember
The prize includes a trip to a special reception and ceremony in the Houses of Parliament and other goodies such as video cameras!
