Why the Scouts?
With 400,000 youth members and 100,000 adult Leaders Scouting is the largest mixed youth organisation in the UK. As such, it provides opportunities for adventure, team building, and citizenship for young people from every background. For some young people it is the opportunity of a lifetime.
Who do we employ?
As well as our volunteer leadership, we employ some 150 staff to maintain a high level of service to our Members. Depending on their role, staff are either field-based or located at one of our Headquarters sites.
You would be surprised at the range of careers available at The Scout Association - from estate management to finance, public relations to graphic design.
Committed to development
Bringing on board the necessary expertise and nurturing the talent we already have plays a central role in achieving our goals. We are an organisation that promotes learning and development. We are committed to the future of all our employees.
Whatever your level of experience, whatever your talents, we'll welcome your contribution to our organisation and reward it by helping you achieve your full potential.
You do not need to be a Member of the Movement to work at The Scout Association, but we expect you to be committed to our aim of improving the lives of young people.
Committed to diversity
The Scout Association is proud of being a ‘diverse’ organisation. This means we recognise and value the differences in people – including their culture, religion and ethnic backgrounds.
Being a ‘diverse’ organisation also means we do not accept any discrimination and challenge it whenever we come across it. We employ people not because of who they are, but because of what they can do.

Human Resources
'The atmosphere at Gilwell Park makes you feel like you are working from home (lovely surroundings, nice lunch, smiling faces and genuinely happy people).
Before I joined the Association I had no experience in Human Resources. Whilst working here, I have gained so many qualifications. With every opportunity given to me, my skills and knowledge have developed and the Association has brought out the best in me.'
