Personal development

We are committed to the ongoing learning and development of our employees and offer the opportunity to complete the following work based qualifications:

Customer Service Level 3

This NVQ is aimed at people who, in work roles, provide a continually improving service to customers (either internal or external) and are able to effect permanent improvements for the benefit of customers and the organisation.

Administration 3

This NVQ is aimed at people who are in an administrative supporting role within any area of the organisation.

Management 3 and 4

These NVQs are based on the key functions of managing activities, people, resources, information, energy and quality. Although managing people is an essential component of this award, some candidates have job roles where the emphasis is more on managing projects, or dealing with technical matters than with people.

Learning and Development 3 and 4

These NVQs are for people who are involved in training individuals in some way. There are actually five variations dealing with design and delivery at a very hands-on level to strategic organisational planning of training and development.

A life in the day of Matt Oakes -Writer/Editor
The Scout Association

'I've been working at The Scout Association for six months now, and the time has simply flown by. A wealth of opportunity has come my way to learn many new things and I've constantly been pushed to develop my skills and abilities. Getting up for work in the morning is never a problem when you know you're working for an organisation that does so much good.

Every day leads to a new experience. I've written and helped edit a range of articles covering subjects such as mountaineering, around the world yachting, and the Russian Space Olympics, to name but a few. I've also found myself taking photographs at many events all over the country, including at Windsor Castle and Trafalgar Square. I've had the pleasure of meeting lots of interesting, friendly people from many different backgrounds.

I find The Scout Association a fascinating organisation to work for. It has a rich history whilst also being forward thinking, offering opportunities to everyone.
